The Cornwall-Alliance Summer Essay Contest – How To Apply (Award: $1,000)

The Cornwall-Alliance Summer Essay contest is now open for high school juniors and seniors and college students to earn scholarship money! 

The Cornwall-Alliance Summer Essay contest is organized by the Cornwall-Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation, an organization that believes that human beings were created in the image of God to steward the earth and promote the flourishing of humanity.

The organization also believes that the wellbeing of people, especially the poorest of the world, should be the primary concern when we think about how to care for creation. 

To enter the contest, please write a 750-1,000-word essay answering the following prompt in Chicago or MLA style. 

Topic

Examine a piece of legislation in your local community, either proposed or in effect, and explain its consequences on the economy, creation, and the people who live in your area. Examine the worldview, assumptions, and solutions employed by the bill’s sponsors. Identify any errors in these three categories and how they affect the legislation. 

Requirement

All essay submissions should be between 750 and 1,00 words with proper citations, including a clear citation of the piece of legislation to which they refer.  

Prize

The first-place winner will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship.  

Submission

Applicants should submit their essays by visiting their website at cornwallalliance.org/scholarship/ and fill out the form. 

Essays submitted become the property of the Cornwall Alliance, which, if it publishes them or arranges for their publication, shall identify their authors. 

Deadline

Submissions are due by September 30th, 2023.
